Hang Gliding
Learn to fly at Kitty Hawk Kites’ Hang Gliding Training Center. It is the largest hang gliding school in the world, teaching hundreds of thousands (over 300,000) of students since 1974!
We have taught students aged 4-92, male and female, physically fit and physically challenged. In fact, we can accommodate paraplegics, blind, deaf and other persons physically challenged. All we require is a desire to learn how to fly. We provide beginner, intermediate and advanced instruction.
Surf Lessons
Learn the fundamentals of surfing. We discuss the importance of ocean safety, how to identify rip currents, and how to read ocean conditions. We warm up with some surf specific stretches. Then we practice standing up on the board on the beach before we get in the water. After that it’s into the ocean to learn how to paddle properly and catch your first wave. There is over an hour of hands on practice in the water. Surfboard and leash are provided.
Paddleboarding
Stand-up Paddleboarding is one of the hottest water activities out there! Imagine an enlarged surf board that’s big enough to stay completely out of the water. Now put a paddle in your hands, and you’ve got paddleboarding! Paddleboarding is an old sport that has recently become very popular. Initially the precursor to surfing, paddleboarding offers great excercise while at the same time allowing you the ability to explore the Outer Banks both on the surf and in the sound. In relatively clear water, you are awarded a great view of your surroundings so it’s possible to see many fish, crabs, and other animals. When you’re standing up, it’s almost like walking on water! Rentals and access to the water are available on-site at the resort.
